November Full Moon Yoga: The Beaver Moon / ihkopîwipîsim (Frost Moon)

  • The District 8520 Manning Avenue Fort McMurray, AB, T9H 5G2 Canada (map)

Theme: Grounding, Preparation, and Reflection

As the Frost Moon rises in the northern sky, we enter a season of quiet gathering and inner preparation. In Cree, November is ihkopîwipîsim — “the Frost Moon” — when the land begins to freeze and long nights call us to seek warmth within and around us. Just as beavers build their lodges, this time reminds us to fortify our emotional and spiritual homes for the winter ahead.

Astrologically, this full moon often falls in Taurus or Gemini, balancing stability with introspection. It invites us to slow down, nurture the body, and listen deeply to the stories within — just as our ancestors once did under moonlit skies.

We’ll move through a gentle, grounding yoga practice to restore warmth and inner steadiness.

This special evening includes:
✨ Restorative movement to warm and ground the body
✨ Breathwork to steady the mind and attune to the land’s rhythm
✨ Space for reflection and winter preparation
✨ A closing moment of gratitude, honoring the land’s teachings and the light guiding us forward

Expect soft lighting, the scent of cedar and sage, and a peaceful space to root into community and calm.

Why practice under the Full Moon?
The full moon is a time of illumination — when energy, emotion, and intuition rise. Across cultures, it’s seen as a powerful moment to pause, reflect, and release. Practicing yoga during this time helps us align with the Earth’s rhythms, fostering clarity, balance, and renewal — both personal and collective.
